Although the Vudu video on demand service is not officially available in Canada you can still stream if you use the following trick.
See the problem is that Vudu does not have the right to stream its movies to users in Canada. Vudu will detect your location via your IP-address, which is a number you inherit from your Canadian Internet Service Provider. As a result Vudu can detect your location in a split second and prevent you from streaming. So in order to get around this problem you need to hide behind an American IP-address to trick Vudu into letting you use the site.
Fool Vudu into Thinking you are Located in the US
Vudu has had a disc to digital program in place with their parent company Walmart since 2012. Consumers could take their discs into participating Walmart locations to verify ownership, and after. Still in the Finder, create the new download location directory in that drive. As you have done, I would use the directory/folder name Vudu; Inside the Vudu directory you should create another directory called Local Store, this is your new download location.
Thankfully the remedy to this problem is very simple. All you have to do is connect to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) with a server located in the US. That way you will inherit an American IP-address from the server and Vudu will no longer be able to detect that you are American.
What you need is a subscription to a VPN provider such as Unlocator, which I use for this purpose myself. Once you have signed up for the Unlocator service you can download the application for either Mac or PC and install in on your machine. Then simply select a server located in the US and click connect – then wait a few seconds and the application will do all the magic behind the scenes.
Once connected go to the Vudu website and create and account. Fake your location by using an American zip code and state. I used CA 90210 and it worked just fine. You are now good to go and you can start using Vudu as if you were located in the US.
What About the PlayStation and other Devices?
Since the Xbox, PlayStation and TVs don’t support VPN natively you need to use a router that can connect to VPN. I have written a guide for getting on the PlayStation outside the US, and the method is the same for Vudu so go read that guide if you want to watch Vudu on any of these devices.

The Apple TV app and transactionalvideo-on-demand streaming service Vudu will both be available on the latest upgrade of Microsoft’s Xbox gaming console, the X and S series, starting on November 10.
This is the firstmajor upgrade of the device since Microsoft launched Xbox One in 2014.
The Apple TV app has not been on Xboxes before, but will now also be supported by the legacy Xbox One console — allgood news for the new Apple TV Plus streaming service.
Xbox owners can use their devices to subscribe to Apple TV+ on the Apple TV app for $4.99 per month, with a seven-day free trial.
In addition to Apple TV+ originals, the Apple TV app provides access to premium channels like Showtime, CBS All Access and AMC+, and enables purchase or rental of 100,000-plus movies and shows.
“The Apple TV app gives you access to thousands of shows and movies from one convenient location, allowing you to enjoy Apple TV Plus, Apple TV channels, brand-new and popular movies, andpersonalized entertainment recommendations,” Microsoft Xbox Editor in Chief Will Tuttle posted.

A Family Sharing feature lets six family members share subscriptions toApple TV channels using their personal Apple ID and password.
Vudu, acquired by Comcast’s Fandango from Walmart in July, offers access to more than 150,000 new-release and premium eventmovies, catalog films and next-day TV shows when they launch on video, often before they are available on subscription streaming services.
The offerings include more than 1,000 4K movies andTV shows.
Apps already on Xbox One will be carried forward to the upgraded devices, including Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Spotify, YouTube, YouTube TV, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, NBC Peacock,Vudu, FandangoNow, Twitch, Sky Go, NOW TV, Sky Ticket and others.
The new Xbox consoles feature enhanced color, dynamic range, and spatial sound with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound onapps that support those, including Netflix, Disney+, and Vudu, according to Microsoft.
The Microsoft Store on the devices has been rebuilt to be twice as fast as in the past, and a newEntertainment block for Xbox One as well as the X and S series showcases the latest movies, TV, and music across popular entertainment apps.
The game-console battle is heating up, withSony’s PlayStation also about to debut its latest upgrade, PlayStation 5, on November 12.

PlayStation 4 was the best-selling video game console worldwide in 2019, with sales of nearly18.3 million units — almost three times the sales of runner-up Xbox One, and nearly 2 million more units than Nintendo’s Switch, according to Statista.
PlayStation currently has a 7% share, while Xbox has a 4% share, of connected TVdevices deployed worldwide, reports Strategy Analytics.

However, as of this year’s third quarter, Xbox One accounted for 48% of game consoles’ total video-streaming viewingtime, edging out PlayStation 4 at 47%, according to Conviva’s latest “State of Streaming” report.

That’s a gain for Xbox One, which in Q2 2020 had 47% toPlayStation’s 50%.
Gaming consoles as a whole had just a 10% share of video streaming time spent in Q3, compared to 58% for connected and set-top devices, 14% for smart TV platforms, 8% for mobile, 6% for desktop and4% for tablets.
But game consoles’ combined viewing time in Q3 rose by 42% year-over-year, including 45% growth in live viewing time and 41% growth in video-on-demand time. OnlyCTV’s time-spent growth was larger, at 55%.
